Public transportation of buses jeepneys, and vans
is readily available. Calicoan Island has a very
nice beach resort on the point there, and there
are several lower cost pensione houses in Guiuan
Town to choose from. Calicoan Island has electricity
but currently has no telephone landlines or mobile
access. Guiuan Town 20 minutes drive from Calicoan
Island has telephone landlines and Smart Globe
mobile phone access. Internet access and internet
cafes are available too.
• October Is Event Time in Calicoan &
Guiuan Eastern Samar
Starting about the first week of October running
through to about the end of the month, the events
this year will be the annual Guiuan Town Fiesta,
the World War II American Japan Veterans Reunion
of the Battle of the Leyte Gulf, and the 1st International
Eastern Samar Surfing Competition sponsored by
the Philippine Department of Tourism. All these
events going on at around the same time will make
Calicoan and Guiuan and exciting place to be enjoying
some island kine lifestyle.
